Is anyone dependent on any machines in their day-to-day life to help them? If they are, find out what supplies they might need to go with it and if a back up amount is possible. Also, think about what powers these items. This will need to be thought about when it comes to the power items in your emergency kit.

Daily Use Items

Is there something you use on a daily basis that you may require in an emergency?

These could be simple items you can purchase at any pharmacy, or items that may require a prescription. Think about what medical supplies might be hard to get during an emergency.

Drugs / Medication

It’s important if you can to have a supply of any prescriptions medication you may need. This can be hard sometimes as lots of places won’t give you extra medication just to hold on to.

That coupled with expiry dates on items, means it can be hard to prepare fully.

A lot of it comes down to just how important this medication is to your day-to-day life. Have a talk to your doctor or pharmacist to see how much medication you can have. How easy it will be to get repeat prescriptions.
